Henry Clay Fox, Editor-in-chief, Vol. II, Part II, 1912, p537: Dr. Aubrey L. Loop is one of the sterling citizens whom Boone county has contributed to Wayne county, and through his own exertions and ability has worked his way upward from the position of a farm boy to that of one of the leading and successful physicians of the county to which he came as a young man in 1900. ... He was born in Boone county, Indiana, Nov. 18, 1874, a son of Henry and Amanda J. (Cunningham) Loop, natives of that same county, where they have passed their lives and still maintain their home, in the village of Advance, that county. They are the parents of two children. The Loop family is of German extraction and has been resident in America the past 150 years [i.e. since about 1760]. The original immigrants were three brothers, one of whom settled in Canada, one in Pennsylvania, and the third, Christian Loop, from whom Dr. Loop is descended, settled in Rockingham county, Virginia. The paternal great- grandfather, Christian Loop, Jr., came to Indiana, in 1834, and settled in Boone county, where he purchased land and also entered a tract of government land. His son, David, grandfather of Dr. Loop, was born in Augusta county, Virginia, Feb. 4, 1818, and came to Indiana with his parents in 1834. He became the father of seven chirdren, one of whom, Henry, father of Dr. Loop, was born March 9, 1845. Dr. Loop ... became a student in Wabash College, later attending Butler College, and his professional education was received in the Indiana Medical School, at Indianapolis, where he graduated with the class of 1899. He then spent one year at the Indianapolis City Dispensary, at the end of which time, in 1900, he came to Economy and opened an office ... He is a Democrat ... and he and his wife hold membership in the Methodist Episcopal church. In June, 1901, Dr. Loop was united in marriage to Miss Lynne B. Young, a daughter of George T. and Catherine Young, of Boone county, Indiana, and of this union have been born two children - Margaret Jane, born April 7, 1903, and Aubrey Young, born Sept. 14, 1910. Loop, of the vicinity of New Ross, Montgomery county, has been successfull... Mr. Loop was born in Walnut township, Montgomery county, on January 17, 1855. He was the son of Andrew and Lydia (Wheat) Loop. Andrew was born in Augusta county, Virginia, March 24, 1816, of German descent, his grandfather, Christian Loop, having been a native of Germany. Christian Loop, Jr., father of Andrew, was born in Rockingham county, Virginia, November 17, 1788, and when a young man he moved to Augusta county, that state, where he married Eva Airhart, daughter of Christian Airhart and wife. He continued to reside on a farm in that county until 1834, when he came to Indiana, settling among the pioneers of Boone county, where he bought land and also entered some from the government, paying a thousand dollars for a quarter section, only about fifteen acres of which was cleared, and he devoted himself to the further improvement of the property during the twenty years that he resided upon it. In the meantime he added to his landed estate until he possessed a half section at the time of his death. In the latter part of his life he removed to Beckville, and lived retired until his death, November 20, 1879, at the advanced age of ninety-one years. Mrs. Airhart was the daughter of Christian and Eva Loop, who were also pioneers of Boone County, coming as early as 1834. Mr. Loop died in 1879, aged ninety years; Mrs. Loop died in 1866; both are buried at the Providence Cemetery, in Jefferson Township. John Airhart's parents are also buried at the same cemetery. John Airhart, the subject of this sketch, was among the early citizens of Jefferson Township. He came October 6, 1834. Has resided on his present farm since 1842. He drove a team from Virginia, and on arriving here found but little to encourage him. Their neighbors were few and far between, but those few were social in the extreme. Some of his happiest days were spent in his "cabin" home in the woods. Mr. Airhart is a good citizen and enjoys the confidence of his neighbors. His active days, however, are over. He and his aged companion are quietly living at home, having went through life in all its phases; have had their joys and sorrows like others who were pioneers. There was born to them two children, Eva Elizabeth, born 10th of December, 1841; she was married to Franklin Wheatly November 7th, 1857. The other child died in infancy.
