Loop, a cousin of mine (now of this place) is referred to me. I regret that we have little knowledge of the Loops of former generations... Our grandfather's name was Peter Loop, born we think in New York State in 1795, died in North East Township in 1855. The knowledge we have comes mostly from an account book kept 1795 - 1834 by Orange Spencer. Orange Spencer was a drummer boy in the Revolution who was born July 30 1765 at Richmond, Mass., and died Jan. 10, 1845 at this place. Orange Spencer married Sarah Bostwick Dec. 4, 1787. There were born 8 children, one of which, Sena Spencer (our grand- mother), born March 29, 1800 was married June 17, 1817 to Peter Loop our grandfather. Peter Loop and Sena Spencer had 5 boys and 2 girls all of whom have been dead for several years. The only male descendants are Geo. W. Loop and myself. Geo., 61 years old, married ..?.. no children. I am 67, have one son, he has 5 boys, 2 girls. I have been told that my fathers grandfathers name (Peters father) was Martin, but I don't know that this latter is correct. We infer from Spencer's account book that Martin Loop, with his two little boys (Charles and Peter) and his wife (Susa or Suka) was living in Otsego N.Y. as were also a number of Spencers, Fosters, Fullers, Dwights and others in 1796. In 1817 when our grandparents were married they apparently lived in Masonville [Delaware county, near Chenango county], N.Y. Masonville was also mentioned in 1812. Verona [Oneida county] N.Y. seems to have been the place of residence in 1818. Perinton [?] N.Y. is mentioned Nov. 1822 and in June 23, 1823. In 1827 several families moved to Mina, Chautauqua Co., N.Y. Families of Orange Spencer and Martin Loop were with them. Eliab Skeel was a prominent person in this community. Mina is only a few miles from North East. Martin Loop's son Charles went to Hayfield (near Meadville Pa.) I do not know whether there were any male descendants or not but there might have been as there are Loops in that part of Pa. and in Erie Pa. We are unable to make any guess as to where our great grandfather Martin comes in... From Bostwick Family, by H.A.
