CHAPTER 11 -- Christian Loop of Elmira, NY

Christian LOOP [Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the first child of Peter LOOP and Cousia SPRINGER was Christian LOOP, named after Peter's father. He was born on April 16, 1759 in Hillsdale, Columbia County, New York. He married, about 1781, Lucy FERRIS. She was born December 26, 1760. Along with his brother Peter, Jr., he removed with his family to Elmira, NY, then called Newtown, sometime between 1787, when she is listed as a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Hillsdale, and 1790. The 1860 Gazeteer of New York State says: "The first settlement [of Elmira] was made by Col. John Hendy and Christian Loop, who located on the present site of the village in 1788". He is listed as living on Sullivan Street in 1790, and as constable of the nearby town of Chemung in 1791. He died probably in 1799, as his last child was born in April of that year, and Lucy is censused alone in Chemung in 1800. She married October 25, 1801, William JENNINGS by whom she had two sons: Hector JENNINGS and Jesse JENNINGS. She died before 1816. The children of Christian LOOP and Lucy FERRIS were:

+        1.  Peter C. LOOP, b. July 24, 1781, in Hillsdale, Columbia County, NY, and christened there September 9, 1781. He married Peggy HUEY. She is listed in an indenture as the "true heir" of Abraham HUEY, possibly her father. Peter C. Loop was a surveyor. They lived in Dauphin county in 1800 where they are censused with one child under ten years old. He is listed as being of Painted Post, Steuben County, NY, in 1814, but Peggy Loop is listed as being of Dauphin County, PA, again in 1820. They had children:

a.    a child under 10 in 1800.

b.    Susanna LOOP, b. March 1, 1813, christened July 18, 1816, at Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, PA, with sponsor Magdalena HUEY.

+        2.  William Ferris LOOP, b. July 5, 1783, in Tioga County, NY, m. Jemima STOWELL. He d. in 1830, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY.

+        3.  Mary LOOP, b. about 1785 in Elmira, Chemung County, NY.

+        4.  Timothy LOOP, b. about 1786 in Elmira, Chemung County, NY. He is probably the Timothy Loop who served during the War of 1812 as a corporal in Swantwood's Regiment of New York Militia.

+        5.  Polly LOOP, b. May 17, 1786, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, m. Brazilian BUTLER. He was b. about 1776, in CT. In 1850 they were living in Elmira with a number of their children.

+        6.  John LOOP, b. December 24, 1793, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, d. young.

+        7.  Civilian LOOP, b. July 17, 1794, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, m. Betsy McLAUGHLIN.

+        8.  Stephen V. R. LOOP, b. December 14, 1796, m. Ruth McLAUGHLIN.

+        9.  Christian LOOP, b. April 11, 1799, m. Hannah SHAPPEE.

William Ferris LOOP [Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the second child of Christian LOOP and Lucy FERRIS was born July 5, 1783, in Tioga County, New York. He married Jemima STOWELL daughter of Asa STOWELL and Hannah BIXBY at Bainbridge, Chenango County New York. He died in 1830, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York. She also died there. They are buried together in Afton, Chenango County, New York. The children of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL were:

+        1.  George LOOP, b. February 15, 1811, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY, m. (1) Elmira PHILLY, m. (2) Wealthy PHILLY, her sister. He d. in August, 1898, in Nelson, Tioga County, PA.

+        2.  Eliza Ann LOOP, b. November 26, 1815, in Coventry, Chenango County, NY, m. October 2, 1835, John Hinckley VINTON. He was b. April 29, 1812, in Coventry, Chenango County, NY. He d. November 29, 1870, in Afton, Chenango County, NY. She d. November 12, 1895, in Golden, Jefferson County, CO, and is buried in the Boulder Cemetery.

+        3.  Albert Mortimer LOOP, b. September 12, 1816 in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, m. Sarah GANOE. He d. May 28, 1904, in Nelson, Tioga County, NY.

+        4.  Charles H. LOOP, b. in 1820 in Bettsburg [?], NY, m. (1) December 9, 1856, Olive Eliza PANGBURN, m. (2) Harriet CLEVELAND. He d. December 20, 1910, in Binghamton, Broome County, NY.

+        5.  William Ferris LOOP, Jr., b. September 15, 1822, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY, m. September 26, 1845, Violette TERRY. He d. June 1, 1911, in Savanna, Carroll County, IL.

+        6.  Elvira LOOP, b. July 14, 1828, m. (1) John CHAMBERLAIN m. (2) William WICKS. He d. May 22, 1891, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY. She had children:

a.    Mary CHAMBERLAIN, b. about 1849, m. John COOK. They lived in Afton, Chenango County, NY. She d. in 1938. They had a daughter Marguerite COOK, who was a writer.

+        7.  Lucretia LOOP, m. Russell MORSE.

Civilian LOOP [Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the sixth child of Christian LOOP and Lucy FERRIS was born July 17, 1794, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY. He married Betsy McLAUGHLIN. The children of Civilian LOOP and Betsy McLAUGHLIN were:

+        1.  Henry LOOP, b. about 1819, in NY, m. Esther, surname unknown. They were living in Elmira, NY, in 1850. They had children:

+        2.  Christian LOOP, b. about 1820, in NY. He m. Laura, surname unknown. In 1850, they were living in Elmira, NY, with their children:

b.    Ruth LOOP, b. abt. July 1, 1842, in NY. She d. July 6, 1873, aged 31 years, 5 days, and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY.

c.    Charles LOOP, b. about 1847, in NY.

d.   George LOOP, b. about 1848, in NY.

+        3.  George LOOP, b. in April, 1824, in NY, m. (1) Charlotte, surname unknown. He was a farmer and fireman in Elmira in 1850. She d. before 1860. He m. (2) Katie M. WISNER. She was b. abt. 1847, the daughter of William H. and Clarissa WISNER. She d. April 6, 1881, aged 38, and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. George LOOP m. (3) abt. 1885, Hattie, surname unknown. She was b. February, 1846, in NY. In 1892, he is listed as a nurse. He is probably the George LOOP, who d. September 15, 1902, aged 73, in Binghamton, Broome County, NY, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY. Hattie d. abt. 1930, and was buried March 14, 1930 in Woodlawn Cemetery. With his first wife Charlotte he had children:

a.   William A. LOOP, b. August, 1845, in NY. In 1860, he is living in the household of Alexander Elore (or E. Lore), who in 1880 is boarding with William's parents. He m. (1) before 1870, Jane, surname unknown. He m. (2) before 1880, Martha A. McGANN. She was b. in June 26, 1847, in NY. She d. July 4, 1900. He d. January 16, 1927. They are both buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY. He and Martha had one child:

i.    Nellie A. LOOP, b. October, 1887, in NY. In the 1900 census she is listed on a separate sheet from her parents, but at the same address.

With his second wife, Katie M., he had children:

b.    George Andrew LOOP, b. May 17, 1878, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY. He m. abt. 1900, Bessie M., surname unknown. She was b. January, 1879, in PA. He was a postal clerk. In 1900 and 1910 and 1918, they were living in Sayre, Bradford County, PA. In 1920 they were in Athens, Bradford County, PA. In 1925 they were in Barton, Tioga County, NY. In 1930 they were living in Waverly, Tioga County, NY. In 1940 they were back living in Sayre, Bradford County, PA. In his 1942 draft registration he is described as 5' 9", 175 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, with a ruddy complexion. They had children:

i.    Marjorie E. LOOP, b. about 1903, in PA.

ii.    Dorothy F. LOOP, b. about 1907, in PA.

iii.    Edmund L. LOOP, b. about 1913, in PA.

iv.    Jimmie LOOP, b. about 1925, in PA.

+        5.  Butler LOOP, b. about 1829, in NY. He was a baker in Elmira in 1850.

+        8.  Jesse LOOP, b. about 1833, in NY. This is speculative. In 1850 he was listed as an "idiot", living in Elmira with Hannah Loop, next door to Henry Loop and George Loop.

Stephen Van Rensallaer LOOP [Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the seventh child of Christian LOOP and Lucy FERRIS was born December 14, 1796. He married Ruth McLAUGHLIN. The children of Stephen Van Rensallaer LOOP and Ruth McLAUGHLIN were:

+        1.  Henry LOOP, m. Ms. MYERS.

+        2.  Hattie LOOP, m. Mr. BOUCHER.

+        3.  Julia A. LOOP, m. Mr. BRIOTTIN.

+        4.  Jane LOOP, m. Mr. ELLIOTT.

+        5.  Mary LOOP, m. December 22, 1844, Hiram MILLER. The marriage was reported in the Crawford Democrat, a Crawford County, PA, newspaper. It's unclear if that is where the event took place. He is from Masillon, Stark County, OH, and she is from Elmira, NY.

+        6.  William P. LOOP.

Christian LOOP [Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the eighth child of Christian LOOP and Lucy FERRIS was born April 11, 1799. He married Hannah SHAPPEE. She was b. abt. 1803. He died of old age in 1879 or 1880 in Horseheads, Chemung County, New York. She died between 1880 and 1887. The children of Christian LOOP and Hannah SHAPPEE were:

+        1.  Horace W. LOOP, b. abt. 1823 or 1826, in NY. He m. Catherine, surname unknown. She was b. abt. 1836, in NY. She probably d. before 1870, when Horace and daughter Julia are living with his brother John. He d. July 5, 1872, aged 47, and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY. Horace and Catherine had a daughter:

+        a.  Julia Ann LOOP, b. abt. 1857, in NY.

+        2.  John B. LOOP, b. abt. 1831, in NY, m. Hannah CAMPBELL. She was b. abt. 1832, in NY. He was apparently a Civil War veteran. He d. October 25, 1889, and is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY.

+        3.  Mary LOOP d. infant, near September 17, 1828, in Elmira, Chemung County, NY.

+        4.  Jesse LOOP, b. about 1833, in NY. In 1850 and 1880 he was listed as an "idiot", living in Elmira with his mother Hannah Loop. He was admitted to a poorhouse in Elmira on two occassions, November 30, 1887, and June 27, 1888, probably because his mother had died and he had no means of support.

George LOOP [William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the first child of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL was born February 15, 1811, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York. He married (1) Elmira PHILLY, by whom he had one daughter. She died before 1842. He then married (2) her sister Wealthy PHILLY who was born 1823. She died in 1871, and is buried in Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married (3) Eliza, maiden name unknown. She was born about 1821 in New York State and apparently was first married a Mr. MINNICH, by whom she had a daughter Harriet MINNICH. He died in August, 1898, in Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, and is buried there in Nelson Cemetery. The children of George LOOP and Elmira PHILLY were:

+        1.  Eunice Viola LOOP, b. September 14, 1834, m. December 25, 1852, Cephus SMITH. He was b. November 13, 1838, and d. July 5, 1905. She d. December 18, 1927.

The children of George LOOP and Wealthy PHILLY were:

+        2.  James William LOOP, b. May 27, 1842, probably in Nelson, Tioga County, PA, m. (1) February 1, 1862, Maria CAMPBELL. She was the daughter of Joseph CAMPBELL, Jr. and Anne CLINCH. He m. (2) Anna BRANT. He d. August 26, 1912.

+        3.  Lefa (Leafy) LOOP, a female, b. about 1842, probably in Nelson, Tioga County, PA. She m. Albert B. COOK, abt. 1860. He was b. abt. 1835 in PA. In 1860 they were living next to Epenetus (Neat) and Lucy COOK, his parents. He registered for the draft in 1863, from Nelson, Tioga County, PA. In the Civil War, he served as a private in the Co L 1st Reg PA Provisional Cavalry. Albert and Lefa divorced in 1891. She remarried to Washington LOGUE and d. in 1907. Albert COOK received an invalid's pension in 1901. In 1910 he was living with his nephew Frank TOOTE in Eldred, McKean County, PA. He was still living in Nelson in 1870. In 1880 he was living in Annin, McKean County, PA. Albert COOK and Lefa LOOP had children:

a.   Marion Richelieu COOK, b. about 1861, in PA. He had a son William Donald COOK, who had a son William Donald COOKE, Jr., who had a daughter Catherine COOKE.

b.   Edith COOK, b. about 1863, in PA.

c.  Eunice Viola COOK, b. about 1871, in PA.

+        4.  Mary E. LOOP, b. about 1846, probably in Nelson, Tioga County, PA.

+        5.  Charles H. LOOP, b. about 1847, probably Nelson, Tioga County, PA, m. Nancy R. STURDEVANT.

+        6.  Eugene Pembrook LOOP, b. about 1848, probably in Nelson, Tioga County, PA. He m. Flora E. GIBBS. She was b. in 1856. In 1880, he was living with his sister Lefa in Annin, McKean County, PA, as a laborer for her husband, who was a lumberman. She d. in 1884. In 1930 he was living with his grandson, Ernest MORRIS. He d. November 7, 1933, in Wellsville, Allegany County, NY. They are both buried in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint, McKean County, PA.

Eliza Ann LOOP [William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the second child of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL was born November 26, 1815, in Coventry, Chenango County, New York. She married October 2, 1835, John Hinckley VINTON. He was born April 29, 1812, in Coventry, Chenango County, New York, the son of Samuel VINTON and Florinda HINCKLEY. John Hinckley VINTON died November 29, 1870, in Afton, Chenango County, New York. She died November 12, 1895, in Golden, Jefferson County, Colorado, and is buried in the Boulder Cemetery.

Albert Mortimer LOOP [William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the third child of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL was born September 12, 1816, in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. He married (1) Sarah GANOE. She was born about 1819 in New York State. She died December 20, 1863, and is buried in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He married (2) in 1865 to Sophia J. TREMAIN. She was born in November, 1836, in New York. He was a physician in Nelson, Tioga County, New York, starting his practice in 1840, and practicing at least until 1897. Between 1854 and 1856 he lived in Rock Island, Illinois, where he was apparently the Clerk of the Court. He died May 28, 1904, in Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Luther WELLS, and is buried in Nelson Cemetery. The children of Albert Mortimer LOOP by his first wife Sarah GANOE were:

+        1.  Emily J. LOOP, b. 1844 in PA.

+        2.  Albert Mortimer LOOP, Jr., b. July, 1847 in PA, m. Margaret M. (Maggie), surname unknown, abt. 1878. She was b. February, 1865, in PA. He was a painter in 1880. They were living in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, in 1900, when he is listed as a "Medican Agent". In 1910, they are living apart, he in Nelson, Tioga County, PA, living with his sister Ella, and she somewhere else, not yet found. In 1915, she is living in Elmira, Chemung County, NY, with her son Harry, and daughter Flora CARROL. He d. between 1910 and 1920, when she is listed as a widow living with her son Harry in Elmira. They had children:

a.    Harry O. LOOP, b. June, 1880, in PA. He is listed as a painter in a paint shop in Elmira, Chemung, NY, in 1920, living with his mother, and in 1925, as a teamster, also in Elmira, still living with his mother.

b.    Flora LOOP, b. July, 1888, in PA. She m. around 1912, Alexander CARROL. He was b. abt. 1884. They had children: (i) Isaac CARROL, b. abt. 1911; (ii) Donald E. CARROL, b. abt. 1913.

c.    Flossy U. LOOP, b. January, 1892, in NY.

d.    A child who d. before 1900.

+        6.  Mark L. LOOP, b. near October, 1869, in PA. He was a physician like his father. He d. May 23, 1903, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane, WA, while residing in Hope, Bonner County, ID.

+        7.  Wallace B. LOOP, b. in August 8, 1872, in PA. He d. in Hope, ID.

Charles H. LOOP [William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the fourth child of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL was born in 1820 in Bettsburg, Chenango County, New York. He married December 9, 1856, Olive Eliza PANGBURN. She was born November 18, 1832, and was from Norwich, Chenango County, New York, at the time of their marriage. She died in 1870. He then married Harriet A. MERRELL (or CLEVELAND). She was born in 1828 and died in 1897. He was a carpenter, builder and contractor. He d. December 20, 1910, in Binghamton, Broome County, NY. He and his second wife are buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, Chenango County, New York. The children of Charles H. LOOP and Olive Eliza PANGBURN were:

+        1.  Edward John LOOP, b. June 11, 1865, in Afton, Chenango County, NY, m. March 13, 1884, Edith SCHOUTEN in Binghamton, Broome County, NY. She was b. December 5, 1959. In 1884 he went to Kansas where he was a bookkeeper and cashier in banks. He moved to Springfield, MO, and thence to Cotter, Baxter County, AK, where he was a bank director and attorney. She d. February 26, 1926, in Arkansas. He d. there in 1944. Both are buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Cotter, Baxter County, Arkansas. They had one child:

a.    Anna LOOP (1887 - 1973), m. R. M. HARRISON (1874 - 1949). Both are buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Cotter, Baxter County, AR.

+        3.  Hattie A. LOOP, d. young.

+        4.  O. E. LOOP, d. young.

+        5.  H. M. LOOP, d. young.

William Ferris LOOP, Jr. [William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the fifth child of William Ferris LOOP and Jemima STOWELL was born September 15, 1822, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York. His father died when he was eight and when he was twelve his mother sent him to live with his uncle, Dr. Nathan Boynton, who taught him some medicine, but he had to leave when he was fifteen. He came back to Bainbridge where he formed a woolen business with Thomas R. TERRY, whose daughter, Violette TERRY, he married September 26, 1845. She was born about 1828, in New York. Her mother's name was Mary Ransy ROSE. In 1846 he moved to Waukegan, Illinois, where he formed the first school. He lived a while in Galena, Illinois, and taught in Hanover, Illinois. In 1855, he moved to Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois. There he was Justice of the Peace in 1858 and 1859. He died June 1, 1911, in Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois, and is buried there.

John B. LOOP [Christian(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the second child of Christian LOOP and Hannah SHAPPEE was born about 1831, in New York. He married Hannah CAMPBELL. She was born about 1832, in New York. He was apparently a Civil War veteran. He died October 25, 1889, and is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York. She may be the Hannah LOOP, who d. January 27, 1908, aged 80, who is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York. The children of John B. LOOP and Hannah CAMPBELL were:

He married (1) February 1, 1862, Maria CAMPBELL. She was born September 3, 1842, the daughter of Joseph CAMPBELL, Jr. and Anne CLINCH. He served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in Co G, 2nd New York Veteran Cavalry. He filed for an invalid's pension in 1879. His first wife died March 8, 1873. He then married (2) Anna J. BRANT in Nelson, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. She was born in Lindley, Steuben County, New York. He died August 26, 1912, in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. She died there July 2, 1925. They are both buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York. The children of James William LOOP and Maria CAMPBELL were:

He married Nancy R. STURDEVANT. She was born in 1847, the daughter of Thomas B. STURDEVANT and his wife Matilda. Charles H. LOOP died in 1914. His widow died in 1921. Both are buried in Nelson Cemetery, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The children of Charles H. LOOP and Nancy R. STURDEVANT were:

a.    Merle E. LOOP, b. February 21, 1907, d. 1958. He m. abt. 1931, Evelyn Charlotte CONDON. She was b. March 27, 1902, in Ralston, PA, the daughter of Charles Benjamin CONDON and Ida EBERSOLE. She had married (1) September 21, 1921, Kenneth Miles CAREY, and had daughter Joan CAREY by him (see Joan LOOP below). They lived in Elmira, Chemung County, PA, between 1931 and 1943, where Merle worked as a barber in his father's barber shop. He continued there as a barber at least until 1956. He served in the Civil War, in Co D, 140th Regiment of Illinois Volunteers, from May 16, 1864, until October 29, 1864. He was listed at enlistment as 5 feet, 11 3/4 inches tall, black eyes, dark hair. He was a miner and a railroad engineer. He married August 23, 1900, Mary Sophia SCHARFENSTEIN, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. She married in 1872, John May SHAW.  He was the son of John SHAW, born about 1812, in Ireland or Scotland, and died January 20, 1866, in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and his wife Nancy CRAIG, born about 1812 in Ireland, and died May 6, 1882, in Burnside, Goodhue, Minnesota. John May SHAW was born May 1, 1850, in Wisconsin, and died December 14, 1922, in Clinton, Clinton County, Iowa. Kate died November 6, 1926, in Boone County, Iowa. They are buried together in Linwood Park, Boone, Boone County, Iowa. The children of John May SHAW and Catherine L. LOOP were:

He is at that time listed as a slater. He is also a slater in 1900 in Elmira. In 1910 he is listed as a railroad car repairer and in 1920 as a railroad car inspector. He is described as a roof slater in Elmira, NY directories between 1929 and 1935. She was buried November 29, 1937 in Woodland Cemetery, Elmira, NY. January 15, 1953, and is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, NY. She d. May 9, 1968, and is buried next to Omer They had children:

7.    Edmund or Edmon LOOP, b. June, 1890, in NY. He is listed as an actor in 1910 and 1920. He m. Alice, surname unknown. She was b. abt 1897, in PA. In 1940 and 1956 he is listed as the proprietor of Loop's Auction House in Elmira. They apparently had no children.

Stella Ann LOOP [James William (9), George(8), William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the first child of James William LOOP and Maria CAMPBELL was born February 13, 1863. She married May 18, 1883, name unknown. She died in August, 1933. The children of Stella Ann LOOP were:

+        1.  Eva May, surname unknown, b. May 8, 1885, m. November 11, 1914, Edward H. HILLS. They had a son:

a.       Edward H. HILLS, Jr., b. January 1, 1919, d. July 18, 1956.

+        2.  Bertha Loop, surname unknown, b. July 8, 1890, d. October 16, 1890.

+        3.  Trina Clarissa, surname unknown, b. October 15, 1892, m. December 29, 1915, John H. HAZLITT. He was b. October 5, 1891. They had a daughter:

a.    Anne Taylor HAZLITT, b. March 30, 1917, m. June 26, 1946, Wrayburn O. ROGERS, who was b. February 22, 1920.

Ross George LOOP [James William (9), George(8), William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the third child of James William LOOP by his second wife Anna J. BRANT was born February 10, 1876, in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the medical school of the University of Buffalo in 1897, and was president of his class. He interned at the Erie County Hospital in Buffalo, then took up practice in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. He was a surgeon. He married June 5, 1900, Agnes Margot ELLIOT. She was born September 1, 1876, in Port Huron, St. Clair County, Michigan. He was a Captain and medical officer at Camp Lee, Virginia, during World War I. He died October 19, 1945. She d. March 2, 1963. She is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung County, New York. The children of Ross George LOOP and Agnes Margot ELLIOT were:

+        1.  Margot (or Marget) Brant LOOP, b. July 13, 1902, m. (1) Dr. Walter DECKER, m. (2) George ROARK, and m. (3) Mr. PAYNE. She had children:

a.    Charles DECKER.

+        2.  Jane Eliot LOOP, b. August 24, 1914, m. Dr. Ross HOBLER. They had children:

a.    Ross Loop HOBLER.

b.    Margot HOBLER.

Norma Violette LOOP [Edwin Boynton(9), William Ferris, Jr.(8), William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the only child of Edwin Boynton LOOP and Mary Sophia SCHARFENSTEIN, was born July 13, 1901, in Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois. She married May 7, 1921, Paul Frederick GIBSON, in Turlock, Stanislaus County, California. He was born January 18, 1892, in Daleville, Botetourt County, Virginia, the son of Isom Marion GIBSON and Effie ASHBAUGH. He died July 17, 1958, in Turlock, Stanislaus County, California. She died there April 3, 1991. The children of Paul Frederick GIBSON and Norma Violette LOOP were:

+        1.  Harald Sturgis GIBSON, b. April 10, 1924, in Turlock, Stanislaus County, CA, m. April 11, 1948, Phyllis Joan DAVIDSON, at Quartzite, Yuma County, AZ. She was b. March 15, 1926, at Winterset, Madison County, IA.

Harald Sturgis GIBSON [Norma Violette LOOP(10), Edwin Boynton(9), William Ferris, Jr.(8), William Ferris(7), Christian(6), Peter(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the only child of Paul Frederick GIBSON and Norma Violette LOOP, was born April 10, 1924, in Turlock, Stanislaus County, California. He married April 11, 1948, Phyllis Joan DAVIDSON, at Quartzite, Yuma County, Arizona. She was born March 15, 1926, at Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert Eugene DAVIDSON and Lela Ione SANDERS. Both he and his wife and several of their children were christened August 31, 1958, at Chateauroux, Indre, France. The children of Harald Sturgis GIBSON and Phyllis Joan DAVIDSON were:

+        1.  Paul Frederick GIBSON II, b. June 16, 1952, in Sacramento, Sacramento County, CA, m. February 8, 1992, Carol Marie ROMANOSKI, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

+        2.  Flavia Larissa Scholastica GIBSON, b. February 15, 1954, in Sacramento, Sacramento County, CA, m. April 1, 1982, Frederic Alan REISS, at Woodland Hills, Los Angeles County, CA. He was b. January 23, 1944. They had children:

a.    Matthew Jonathan REISS, b. July 6, 1983, in Torrance, Los Angeles County, CA.

b.    Alison Elizabeth REISS, b. February 19, 1985, in Bedford, Middlesex County, MA.

+        3.  Alexander Winfield Sturgis GIBSON, b. March 20, 1957, at Deols, Indre, France. He m. (1) September 22, 1985, Jeannine BROUSSEAU, at Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County, CA. She was b. April 10, 1961. They divorced. He m. (2) November 13, 1996, in Maine. She was b. September 6, 1968, in Gloucester, MA. With his first wife he had children:

a.    Colin Alexander GIBSON, b. February 13, 1988, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

b.    Chase Winfield GIBSON, a twin, b. February 7, 1990, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

c.    Cooper Shane GIBSON, a twin, b. February 7, 1990, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

+        6.  Clark Champion GIBSON, b. June 23, 1961, in Fontana, San Bernadino County, CA. He m. May 27, 1995, Suzanne Elizabeth PATTI, in Pacific Grove, CA. She was b. November 6, 1959, in CT. They had children:

a.    Connor Campion GIBSON, a twin, b. March 12, 2000, in San Diego, CA.

b.    Fiona Patricia GIBSON, a twin, b. March 12, 2000, in San Diego, CA.
